About Estero

Estero, Florida…a Village with a Vision.

Historically and culturally, the heart of Estero is the spring-fed Estero River, which flows to Estero Bay. Some of the earliest European settlers of the area (notably the Alvarez, Fernandez, Johnson, and Soto families) were fishing families that lived on Mound Key, a mangrove-ringed island that dominates Estero Bay. During the early 20th century, these families moved upriver to the settlement which came to be known as Estero. Estero is also the location of a utopian community called the Koreshan Unity, which is now preserved as the Koreshan State Historic Site. Until the 1970s, most settlement and development in Estero was near the river.  The borders of Estero include Estero Bay to the west; the city of Bonita Springs to the south; San Carlos Park and Three Oaks to the north; and Collier County to the east.

Today, Estero is a delightful and charming residential community that has built itself on a vision that includes fun, family values and a sense of pride. The community is also home to world-class shopping within large retail complexes, including Coconut Point, Miromar Design Center and Miromar Outlets, fine and casual dining, and Florida Gulf Coast University. Residents of Estero range in ages from young adults and families to retirees who live here both full and part-time. Here you can find the Pinewood Elementary School and the Hertz Arena that brings in lots of events! There are many beautiful resort-style golf and non-golf communities that cater to a variety of lifestyles and interests – from the golf enthusiast to the outdoor naturist – Estero is the place to be!

If you’re in business, Estero is a wonderful place to relocate your current business or set up a new one. Business owners take advantage of the lively local economy and business networking, as well as many ways to promote – such as the Estero Chamber of Commerce and a variety of print and online media that consumers depend on to be “in the know.” With a location close to Naples, Bonita Springs and Fort Myers, you’re set up for success when you base your business in Estero.

The most wonderful thing about Estero, Florida is access to our beautiful beaches and amazing weather.
